On February 29th, climate activists staged an event in downtown San Francisco outside insurance company Chubb’s offices, demanding that both Chubb and AIG take immediate action to address their contribution to the climate crisis, stop insuring dangerous fossil fuels, and rapidly increase investments in clean energy.

Representatives delivered letters to both Chubb and AIG Insurance to demand action. Protesters sang and testified while informing passers-by of the dire situation of global insurance companies’ support of the fossil fuel industry that is causing climate chaos.

The protest was part of a global week of action organized by the Insure Our Future network. Grassroots groups and activists in 27 countries on five continents came together in over 60 actions to demand an immediate end to insuring new fossil fuel projects, phasing out support for existing coal, oil and gas projects, respecting human rights and supporting a just transition to renewable energy sources.

Participating groups included Scientist Rebellion, Oil and Gas Action Network, Rainforest Action Network, 350 San Francisco, 350 Sacramento and Third Act along with others.
