Lamentors at CalPERS Board Meeting, March 2026

Lamentors from the Bay Area, Los Angeles and Sacramento attended a CalPERS public meeting on March 17th to remind the board that divestment from fossil fuels is the right move morally, environmentally…and financially.

As one Lamentor described it:

“15 of us stood stock still during a 3 hour meeting of the CalPERS board’s investment committee. We listened silently as fund managers discussed the price of oil and the war in Iran. None of these “professionals” spoke of the true cost of oil and the damage that Calpers’ investments in fossil fuels have done. I hope we served as a silent rebuke to this short-sightedness.”
